First Team’s RetroFit backboard packages can be used to replace old, worn out backboards on existing inground posts. These RetroFit packages are primarily designed for older gooseneck or other fixed height posts where the post plate attaches to the backboard above the rim (that is, above 10 feet) as opposed to designs where the post plate attaches straight through the backboard to the rim. The slot structure on the back of the backboard allows you to fine tune the height of the backboard so that the rim is at exactly 10 feet. These slots are positioned 5 inches apart horizontally. Because the slots are 5 inches apart, it is recommended that the attachment plate at the end of the existing basketball post be at least 6 inches x 6 inches, with 5 inch x 5 inch slot dimensions. If your slot dimensions are not 5 x 5, four holes may need to be drilled into the mounting plate on the neck of the post to match the 5 inch slot dimensions.
First Team’s RetroFit36 Endura package includes a 36 inch x 60 inch aluminum backboard, an unbreakable fixed rim, net and easy mount RetroFit bracket. And you can add a post pad to protect players from running into the basketball post.
